What is a Self Balancing Scooter?

A self balancing scooter is in short... a big revolution in personal transportation. People call it "self balancing scooter" or "monorover". Some say call it "a segway without handles". A Self Balancing Scooter consists of two wheels arranged side-by-side, which is joined by two small platforms on which the rider stands, and an internal balancing mechanism. The balancing scooter is controlled by the rider's feet on built-in gyroscopic, sensored platforms. The device was invented in China, but it quickly became very popular in the United States and other countries. The name for the product is no universally accepted. It is very different from company to company which distributes the device.

Self Balancing Scooter - origin

The self balancing scooter comes from China, but it is actually difficult to point which company was the first who manufactured it. David Pierce believes that the scooter was invented by Chic Robotics as the "Smart S1".  It was the Chic Robotic who patented the device's technologies, but due to careless patent, the product was quickly copied by other manufacturers in China.
